Silent Spring, a very famous book written by Rachel Carson, revealed the fact that DDT and such chemical products could be very lethal to creatures like birds, and therefore they caused irreversible damage to our eco-system. The manufacturers knew exactly about the side effects but they chose to conceal the fact for their own interests. Without the humanists like Rachel Carson, we will remain ignorant and eventualy face our own doom desperately. The role of humanism is absolutely indispensable. It gives us a unique opportunity to be wise and act in ways that elevate us above the animal kingdom. It retains our humanness. Beijing is the capital of New China and previously the capital for nine dynasties in Chinese history. So, yellow will naturally add splendor to the 20xx Games.

Secondly, the 20xx Olympics will be a red pageant.Red is another traditionally cherished color for the whole country. We adore red. On big occasions, we like to decorate our homes in red. It is the color of double happiness, representing joyous moments, auspiciousness, enthusiasm and prosperity. Red is one of the most suitable colors to describe the future of Beijing . for most of the developing countries, it is a good idea to control the population growth. for example, china has carried out birth control for years. and this plan has a GREat effect on the world population.

We all know one geometrical concept, the golden section. It's very important in painting, sculpture and architecture, such as the Parthenon in Athens and the Venus de Milo. In nature a little pentagonal flower has its golden section. It looks beautiful.

What about its connection with music? Lets take a look at a straight and tight string. Pluck it, and then halve its length, then pluck it again. The sound we hear is the same note but a higher frequency. The Greek mathematician Pythagoras discovered this law and it developed into the musical scale we know today.

Another example is from the famous composer, Bach. When we listen to his music in “Well-Tempered Clavier”， we find the notes are always getting higher .But amazingly, in the end, it comes back to the initial height. Why is it? That's why Bach was great! It's a very interesting maths problem. We call it a paradox.

These days we learn maths at school. The only purpose is to get a high mark. But I personally think that those with curious and creative minds will open the door to the world of maths. Just as Galileo said, “Mathematics is the alphabet with which God has written the universe”。 Maths, in my eyes, is a fascinating subject that needs our passion and imagination. Like many of others, I used to think of faith as of no importance at all, and I deemed myself as a faithless person. John is an extremely faithful Christian, and he thinks of Jesus Christ as his lord. He, as a pastor, tried to convert me into a Christian when we first met. So he lectured me with his extensive knowledge of history and philosophy every time we hung out. In spite of his amazingly detailed description of the history of Jesus, what really got me intrigued is not the story he told, instead, is John himself as probably the first and most faithful person I’ve met in my entire life. I can feel the sparks in his eyes when he talks about biblical things, and I am so touched by the integrity of him when he says:” Jesus Christ is the ultimate pursuit of my life” without any hesitation or doubt.

The more we got along, the more I became jealous of him, because he always seems to be joyful and optimistic. When I ask him how he manages it, he said:” I’ve had bad days too, but I also know that God is with me. So I know that it’ll all be okay.” Suddenly it occurred to me how lucky it is to have something you can completely put your trust into, something that will bring you strength when your mind is weak, something that reminds you “ it’s not so bad” when you’re filled with sorrow, something that gives your existence significance and bring it up to a higher level. So I was literally converted, not into a Christian, not into someone faithful either, but into someone who wants to be as faithful at least.

That was the first time I am exposed to the power of faith. To put it simple, your life is complete only if you have faith. You must find something important and significant in your life, your purpose, your pursuit, whatever you call it. I’m not saying faith must relate to religion or God. It could be anything. It could be your career goal, your children, your lover, fellowship, or a certain kind of life style, anything, as long as you dare to trust your life in it with your heart of hearts.

Now I’m still faithless. I haven’t become a Christian or find what matters to me most yet. But what John gave me is whole new perspective to see life. So I’ll strive to really feel and touch the beauty in life and won’t take it for granted. And that’s also what I encourage all of us to do. Keep looking for the faith of your own, and when you do, you’ll know it’s all worth it.

Hello, ladies and gentlemen! It is my honor to share my topic with you here. And my topic is Time Is Valuable. Time flies. The article cong cong of Zhu Ziqing also tells us time is rare. We all know that :Time is life, at home we have parents advisement, at school we have teachers advisement. But who treasures time as life?

Now let’s enjoy a story: One day a young man visited great educator Banjieming. When Banjieming opened the door, to the young man’s great surprise.: his house was very dirty. “I’m sorry, It’s too dirty. Wait a minute please. Banjieming said and closed the door.

One minute later, Banjieming opened the door again and said: come in please . This time what the young man saw was a clean and clear sitting room.

“OK, You may go now. Banjieming said , “But I , I havn’t remit to you”. The young man asked. “Isn’t it enough? Looking at the room, “ Banjieming said. “You have been here for one minute.” “One minute? One minute, Oh I know. You tell me a truth: We can do many things in a minute.” The young man left with satisfaction.

The story is short but meaningful. Just like the story says:

one minute isn’t long. But our life is made of such minutes. In fact only treasure time , will you succeed, only treasure time, will you realize your ideal. Only treasure time will you achieve what you want.

We should make good use of time to study hard or to do something meaningful for yourself. So, we should plan the time to study and relax,especially at use we have more free time at home,so that we can use that time to do a lot of things.

However,how can we plan the time? There are different ways for different example, somebody like to study in the morning, and relax in the the contrary, somebody like to relax in the morning, and study in the body even think the best time to study is in the erent ways for different all the ways have one thing in common.

That is the need for practical action. If you want to change a difficult situation, if you want to change yourself, if you want to make good use of time to study, you must put into not, your plan will be not meaningful.

So dear fiends, please treasure every minutes of your life. Only like this will you have an excellent future. Thank you very much.

My Dream I dream of being a doctor. My mother is a doctor. She always has to work extra hours and comes home late and tired. She answered with a smile, “Yes I am sometimes very tired but seeing my patients getting better and better makes me happy from the bottom of my heart.”

As I grow up, I gradually come to understand her words and realize doctors are noble. I made up my mind to be a doctor when I was in junior school and this has never changed since then. I really hope to see a world where there is no cancer, no Aids, no fatal disease, no one suffering from illness. But this is only a fantasy. What about the reality? There are still many many people who are faced with disastrous disease and suffering from constant pain. There are still many many people living in miserable condition and live miserably. There are still many many people dying of cancer and leaving the beautiful world reluctantly. All those things make me feel sad because I think everyone has the right to live . I want to help the sick and reduce their pain as much as I can. I want to bring a healthy body to the patients and save their lives as many as I can. I want to see people cured ,living happily with their families and friends after my treatment. So I want to be a doctor ,an angel in white. When I become a doctor, I will cherish each life regardless of the races, sexes, ages, positions and occupations. I will do every bit to cure the incurable. I already have a dream in my heart,so I have to make every effort to realize it.As a high school student now,I will seize every chance to study hard,arm myself with knowledge, prepare myself for the future and strive for my dreams. I will be determined, face the reality bravely and not surrender to any problems I meet.
