一、概述
鲁迅的小说在推敲精炼的语言之际，同时强调人物的命运。小说《祝福》，使人们对一个祥林嫂的命运难以忘怀，讲汉语的运用推向极致。《祝福》的现有译本，杨宪益所译The New Year’s Sacrifice，堪称《祝福》英译的上乘之作，杨译本忠实与原文，并在国内外拥有相当比例的读者群。鲁迅的《祝福》与写作时的历史背景紧密相关，是抨击旧中国封建制度的经典之作。人们总是从艺术角度对小说中的人物肖像进行研究，到目前为止，从语言角度进行研究的少之又少。语言研究者可以通过多种视角对文本进行分析探讨。
文章将从语序出发对鲁迅原作《祝福》及其英译本做具体分析，进而比较汉英语言组织的异同。
二、《祝福》及其英译本汉英语序差异
众所周知，汉语属于汉藏语系，英语属于印欧语系。而文化方面西方重分析性思维，中国重综合性思维，因此不同的民族通常看待事物的方式、思维模式不同，因而对同一客观事物会有不同的语言表达顺序。语序是言内意义在句法层面的一种显性表现，是语言中各级单位的线性排列规则。语言分为两种：自然语序和特异语序。自然语序依照时间发生顺序叙事；特异语序则不依照时间顺序叙事，往往根据说话人的句义重点、兴趣所在以及语气轻重等来组句。英语句序并不受实际时序的限制，所以时序与句序之间没有严格的对应。汉语句子则主要是用语序表示句子间的逻辑关系。鉴于以上分析，汉语和英语在思维和语言形态上有同有异，在鲁迅原作《祝福》和杨宪益译作The New Year’s Sacrifice中自然语序与特异语序的运用就表现分明。如：
（1）一见面是寒暄，寒暄之后说我“胖了”，说我“胖了”之后即大骂其新党。（自然语序）
When we met，after exchanging a few polite remarks he said I was fatter，and after saying that immediately started a violent attack on the revolutionaries.（特异语序）
（2）这是鲁镇年终的大典，致敬尽礼，迎接福神，拜求来年一年中的好运气的。（自然语序）
This is the great end-of-year ceremony in Luchen，when people reverently welcome the God of Fortune and solicit good fortune for the coming year.（特异语序）
（3）我很悚然，一见她的眼钉着我的，背上也就遭了芒刺一般，比在学校里遇到不及豫防的临时考，教师又偏是站在身旁的时候，惶急得多了。（自然语序）
As she fixed her eyes on me I was seized with foreboding.A shiver ran down my spine and I felt more nervous than during an unexpected examination at school，when unfortunately the teacher stands by one’s side.（特异语序）
以上例句中，英语句子的时序与句序，事情发生的顺序与汉语表达句序都不完全对应。汉语句子是严格按照时间顺序组句，而英语句子却不是按照自然语序组句。如，在例句（3）中，汉语先表达“我”的感觉“悚然”，在写原因是“一见她的眼钉着我”；而英语先说“she fixed her eyes on me”，再说“I was seized with foreboding”。
（1）旧历的年底毕竟最像年底。（自然语序）
New Year’s Eve of the old calendar seems after all more like the real New Year’s Eve.（自然语序）
（2）第二天我起得很迟，午饭之后，出去看了几个本家和朋友。（自然语序）
The next day I got up very late，and after lunch went out to see some relatives and friends.（自然语序）
（3）我就站住，豫备她来讨钱。（自然语序）
I stood still，waiting for her to come and ask for money.（自然语序）
在以上例句中，英汉两种语言的时序与句序相对应，两种语言都使用了自然语序。英汉句子虽然在基本结构上都表现为“主语+谓语+宾语”，但是两种语言的句子结构形式差异明显。且看以下例句：
对于魂灵的有无，我自己是向来毫不介意的；但在此刻，怎样回答她好呢？
Personally，I had never given the least thought to the question of the existence of spirits.
文中，“灵魂”是祥林嫂已经提到过的事物，所以自然而然，作者先提出该事物，后说明自己的想法，而英语则想说明自己的想法，再指出对是对前文已经提到过的这样的一个事物。这同时也显示出英语句序是先表达新信息，后表达旧信息，重要的在前，不重要的在后；汉语句序则遵循“先旧后新，先轻后重”的原则。
三、结语
就英汉语言来说，不仅要寻找其不同的语言现象，还要从中西文化的对比分析来探究英汉“为何有不同的语言现象”，解释两种民族不同的语言行为和语言能力。我国著名语言学家吕叔湘（1980：i）在《中国人学英语》一书中也指出，“我相信，对于中国学生最有用的帮助是让他们认识英语和汉语的差别，在每一个具体问题——词形、词义、语法范畴、句子结构上，都尽可能用汉语的情况来跟英语作比较，让他通过这种比较得到更深刻的体会。”本文主要从英汉语序、话语组织法以及衔接手段的使用出发，对《祝福》汉英两个文本进行了分析比较，有利于更好地实现英汉语言的等值转换和有效实施跨文化交际。需要指出的是，中西方思维方式由于受诸多因素的影响，造成的语言运用差异是多方面的，本文仅从以上三个方面来分析英汉语的异同，未能作出更全面深入的探讨。
